I have pondered a long time as to what information to release that I've gathered about Old Stone
Church during the investigation and afterward from others who had witnessed some of the things
that I had witnessed and photographed while we were there. I first wanted to investigate the church
a long time ago. I could drive by at any given time and see some sort of activity going on there
even though the church itself sat a good distance from the road I traveled often. I decided to train a
new investigator and get to do the long-awaited investigation at the same time on Halloween night
of 2006.
We couldn't get the grounds keeper to the door, so we obeyed the laws (ALWAYS!) and made
sure we got everything we wanted done before dark because there is a cemetery there. I had
made numerous attempts to find out who to contact to get the permission to be there after dark but
failed in each attempt.
First thing that happened is the equipment started malfunctioning, even the EMF meter. The EMF
meter is a Gauss Meter that I choose to use that evening. It appeared that each spike we got the
needle would immediately go flat and didn't respond to motion such as walking as it usually would.
It was almost as if the needle was being held down by something other than us or the fields there.
The second equipment failure was that of my Kodak Easyshare Digital Camera, 6.0. I took around
40 photographs and the memory suddenly was full. I had a 1 G memory card inserted, so it can
handle well over 600 photos. I couldn't access even a review of the photos already taken. I had to
cut it off and go with only an EMF meter that acted funny and a digital voice recorder.
The first thing that we actually experienced was when we pulled up into the church yard. I got sick to
my stomach and the investigator in training felt a sharp stab in her right shoulder. She told me later
that the same shoulder where she felt the stab was usually where spirits that want to scare her or
harm her stab her. So, she had this experience right off the bat, before we ever got out of the car.
The next thing was the sounds. We heard something that can only be placed as a chisel hitting
stone, like someone was carving something into a stone slab. There was no one or anything in the
vicinity that could have naturally made that kind of sound. When recorded on the EVP session
since it lasted almost the whole time we were there, we heard the sound of birds chirping very
close to us. There were no birds chirping at all on the investigation site. The sound of the chisel
stopped as soon as we cut off the equipment and headed back to the car to go home.
When we were doing EVP and photo sessions around the church itself I had a strange experience.
My investigator in training kept telling me she saw a little girl. Even through my viewfinder I could
not see her. When we rounded the second corner of the church, near the grounds keeper's house, I
saw a man, as solid as I was, walking toward me. He was wearing a red ball cap, blue jeans, a
blue jean long sleeved shirt with pens in the right pocket. He had grey and white hair. I thought the
grounds keeper had finally emerged to talk to us. I snapped the photo that I had started to snap
and then took down the camera from my eye and started walking in his direction to talk with him.
As soon as the camera was down the man was gone with nowhere to go to. He just vanished. I got
an outline of a little girl where he had vanished, although the outline is faint. My investigator in
training pointed out to me that was the exact spot she had seen the little girl.
When the last photo was taken and my memory suddenly filled up, we heard someone walking in
the woods behind us. When it would break a stick, the footsteps would stop suddenly and then
begin again a few minutes later. We noted we were being followed but the woods were so thin we
could see there was no one there visible to the naked eye.
When we got ready to leave, I saw several dense shadows that covered what they flew in front of at
my car and in between my car and the church.
What I caught on two photos was most surprising. The last photo before the memory on my
camera filled up was of the front of the church. There was a grave there just before the stone wall
that began the cemetery. My investigator in training said she had seen something there as I was
taking the photo. When I downloaded the photo it looked like a hand there. I showed the photo to
other non-believers and they, too, saw a hand. Little did I know that there was an old history to the
hand coming out of the grave. A young lady was murdered there on her wedding day by a jealous
rival of the groom. He killed her so the other man couldn't have her, so the story goes. They say she
was buried with her wedding ring on as if the marriage had taken place. When the hand comes
from the grave, the ring is gone. That's exactly what I photographed, a left hand and arm extending
from the center of the grave with no ring on. I was then confronted by witnesses that had seen this
hand emerge from the grave while visiting the church. I was also told by an elderly lady that her
mother said for her to never go near that church because it was haunted.
The whole time I was there, I got a sense of foreboding and uneasiness. This is uncommon for me.
I felt an evil presence.
The second photograph that surprised us was actually a crop from the last one. To put it simply, it
had a levitating bush on it. This isn't counting the levitating military helmet or the full black forms
staring back at us on other photos. This also excludes how my investigator in training showed up
as if she were dematerilizing in the photos.
One more thing to note is that on the EVP session I called out the year of the oldest grave I had
time to find and the date was 1797. In one of the photographs, my investigator in training looked to
have been followed around the corner of the church by a grey figure. I noticed inside of this grey
figure was the numbers 1797! They looked to be engraved on the side of the church but they were
not. They only showed up in that one photo!
